Overview of the new Gigabyte B650 motherboard designed for AMD Ryzen 7000 series cpu.
Today, we're taking a look at this little gem, the Gigabyte B650M DS3H, packed with features that make it a great choice for your next build.
BOX
The motherboard of which we talks you belongs of the new AMD B650 series.
Into the box, toghether of course the mobo, we find the always the useful user’s manual, two SATA 3 6Gb/s cables, and various other miscellaneus like as one I/O shield one M2 screw and standoff set and certainly a set of screw for M2 socket.
DESIGN
The new Gigabyte board has an micro-ATX form factor and it sizes 9,6x9,6 inches or 24.4x24.4 cm if we would use the international system of unit.
All components like as connectors, capacitor heatsinks rise from square black PCB that do it base. Here we find various texts, the word Gigabyte, as well DDR5 word, the name of the mobo, and of socket AM5.
The whole board is colling through four matte black metal brushed heatsinks.
The two main on top and left of the cpusocket, these have a simple square profile with smooth rounded edge on top.
The biggest of two is certainly big but not large to covering also the back I/O panel as the premium motherboards.
The third, instead, that aim to keep low temperatures of the two m2 installable. Like as the previous ones, it has characterized by a esssential profile, but, to be honest, it is just a simple metal plate.
Aestetically, these three black heatsinks are enriched with grey contrasting geometrical pattern. In addition, that of m2 slots has the gigabye logo printing on it always in grey.
Ah, plus to this there is a little very elementary, very basic square element cooling the chipset.
Regarding the power design, the VRM layout is composed by 6+2+1 digital power phases. These allow to guarantee the maximum power and efficiency.
CPU SUPPORTED
As all new B650 boards, also this features the new AMD AM5 Socket .
The AM5 CPU socket is used by AMD's Zen 4 codenamed Raphael architecture processors.
The AM5 socket is not backwards compatible with the AM4 socket, so you cannot use an AM4 processor in an AM5 motherboard or vice versa.
As yet said, the AM5 socket is designed B650 motherboards. But, in addition to this, it is used also on the X670E and not E version chipsets. About this, you can find some video about X670 motherboard here on top right corner.
The AM5 socket supports four AMD Ryzen 7000 series desktop cpu.
These processors include the Ryzen 5 7600X, Ryzen 7 7700X, Ryzen 9 7900X and the Ryzen 9 7950x.
Specifically, in terms of specs there are quite bit differences from each other.

MEMORY
The motherboard is equipped with four DDR5 dimm dual channel memory, the latest generation of memory technology for computer systems.
Compared with DDR4, the DDR5 architecture is designed to provide some improvements such as higher performance, high speed, as well as the an amplify capacity, and a better power efficiency.
We can installing a minimum of 32 Gb for single dimm memory module up to a maximum capacity of 128 Gb for all dimm.
Operating base frequencies for memory can range from 4400 to 5200 MT/s and we can even push up to 6400 MT/s in overclocking.
INTERNAL CONNECTIONS
Moving on to the motherboard layout internal connections, starting from the left on top we’ve got a 8 PIN Atx 12v power connectors for our cpu and cpu fan header.
After, going down on the right, there are a 24 PIN Atx main power socket connector, two system fan header, an USB 3.2 Gen 1 type c front panel header, and four sata 3 6 Gb/s ports, and a USB 3,2 Gen 1 connector.
In the bottom, the mobo has a clear Cmos header, a front panel header, a reset button follow by the reset jumper, an another system fan header, two USB 2,0 headers, an addressable LED Strip Header, an RGB LED Strip Header, a trusted Platform Module header, the Enhanced Serial Peripheral Interface Debug Bus which facilitate communication between the motherboard and various components such as the BIOS, CPU and peripherals; a serial port header and in the end a front panel audio header.
I/O BACK PANEL
On back, the io panel features firstly two USB 2,0 port, a PS/2 port for Keyboard and Mouse, two antenna connectors, two displa ports, other two USB 2.0 ports, a HDMI Ports, an USB 3,2 Gen2 Type A port identidied by a red colorway, this port features the Q flash Bios support, an USB 3,2 Gen2 Type C port, the Q-Flash button throug which update the Bios of our system quickly, an Ethernet lan port, two USB Gen1 ports and the audio jacks including line in port with blue color, line-out port with green and microphone port with pink finishes.
STORAGE AND EXPANSION SLOTS
The new B650 motherboard boasts four SATA3 6 Gb/s connectors for storage and two M2 slots for even more space. Both supports storage devices type 2280 and 25110 Pcie Gen 4.0 operating at x4 mode.
In terms of expansion slots, the MSI board offers two pcie slots, including one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot operating at x16 mode, one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot running at x1 mode.
The audio compartment of the B650 motherboard features a Realtek Audio Codec, providing High Definition Audio.
We can choose from a range of channel configurations, including 2-channel stereo, 4-channel surround sound, 5.1-channel surround sound, and 7.1-channel surround sound.
Moreover, the audio software included allows us to access the audio settings and customize our audio experience and modify the functionality of an audio jack.
PRICE
The Gigabyte B650M DS3H motherboard is available now for purchase from retailers at a price of around $160 on Amazon and Newegg or €210 on Caseking at the time of making this video.
