The CaptRobau modder has released the first beta version of the Remako HD Graphics Mod BETA 0.1.
Final Fantasy 7 Remako Mod Beta released
Final Fantasy 7 Remako HD Graphics Mod aims to create a remastered HD version of the classic JRPG, through the graphic improvement of the pre-rendered backgrounds of FF7.
The Final Fantasy VII Remako mod is a project under development for a long time. Time, in which, huge steps have been taken to make the videogame much more beautiful. In the various remaster that have been made, the wallpapers of FF7 have always remained firm to the Playstation 1 version.
Up to now, various methods have been used to graphically update the videogame backgrounds, for example traditional upscaling such as Waifu2x, which leaves much to be desired; or remodeling such as the one carried out by Team Avalanche which takes a long time.
Texture upscaling is done using Topaz Labs' AI Gigapixel program. When resizing the image, AI Gigapixel improves the blurred backgrounds of the game, creating defined images, emulating the detail of the original rendering exceptionally.
According to the CaptRobau modder, this procedure improves the definition of the current 400% pre-rendered low definition backgrounds.
This process could very well be used for Final Fantasy 8 and 9 and for many other titles released during that period.
CaptRobau also said that this HD texture package covers the whole game, but has not yet had the chance to "check the angle of the game, I can not guarantee that I have crushed all the bugs or graphic imperfections".
This mod is usable by anyone who owns any PC version of Final Fantasy VII. So they are compatible with the original version of disk 97, the 2012 version of Square Enix Store and the 2013 version published on Steam.
